The Charleston Center for Photography's

First Annual Photography Contest

Simply heat is defined as energy in transit. Energy is what makes the world come to life. Everything from the smallest particle to the largest is merely comprised of energy in transit. Heat can sometimes be contained and harnessed where at other time intangible. Through the air, the elemental fire breaths forth the constructive, the creative, and the procreative, and in turn decomposes and destroys.

As if through the ashes of the phoenix, life is reborn through this heat, this transit of energy. The vastness of Jungles teaming with life are invigorated by heat, yet in turn cause devastation in deserts causing plants and animals to adapt in seemingly strange ways. The simple yet complex answer of heat has plagued mankind for centuries. Humans alone have long since marveled at the creation of fire and the creation of the warmth that it brought. Mankind's achievements and actions have all been affected by the warmth of their spirit and the sweat of their bodies.

The Charleston Center for Photography extends an open invitation to capture Heat in all its various forms from both professional and amateur photographers.
