Founded in 1980, Alterman Studios is a 6,000 square-foot facility located on upper King Street in downtown Charleston. It is the state's largest photography complex, with four distinct components:
• the Alterman Gallery, where art quality photographs may be viewed and purchased
• Jack Alterman's professional commercial photography services
• the Charleston Center for Photography, with complete studio facilities, digital darkrooms, photography classes, its own gallery of instructors' work and free monthly presentations of a photographer's work..
• the Custom Services, which include Black & White, Copy, and Digital services
